What is it?

We wanted to have a communal worship gathering for house church groups, "underground" believers, and others who don't normally attend "traditional" church.  While our small groups offer many advantages over the institutional church (greater security, intimacy, and freedom, enhanced relationships, spiritual stimulation, and accountability, for example), many of us who usually meet in house churches miss the larger worship celebrations offered by more traditional churches.  This is an opportunity to have a larger, corporate celebration without institutional encumbrances.

There is no "agenda".  We are NOT trying to gather people (or money, or anything else) for "our" group.  This is NOT an attempt to form a new "denomination", or to undermine the autonomy of any group or individual.  We understand that there may be some diversity in terms of doctrinal persuasion, worship style etc, but we hope to be able (even while acknowledging our differences) to celebrate our common faith, encourage each other with a common hope, and express common love, both for our Savior and for one another,

Our hope and intention is that this will not be another worship "concert", but that it will be relational, participatory, and Spirit-led.  There will be opportunity to worship together, pray and share prophetically, and get to know one another.  Some of our folks will be preparing appetizers (feel free to bring your own snacks, drinks, or desserts to share).  I don't know who will actually come, but EVERYONE is WELCOME, so please tell anyone you think might be interested.

Who's behind it?

The July 18th event grew out of the friendship between members of the house church that meets at Kyle & Gail Knapp's house (visit www.tuesdaytogether.us for more about us) and John & Jen Cleveland, owners of Perk Ave Cafe.  But we do not claim ownership of it - our hope is that it will be a cooperative gathering of many groups, with Jesus Christ as the Organizer.

Who is it for?

This gathering is open to all, but is primarily intended as a celebration gathering for believers and seekers who fellowship through "house churches" or other "underground" groups or who are otherwise uncomfortable with traditional "institutional" church.  Also welcome are those interested in knowing God but who have no "church" connection, those who have suffered religious abuse, and those who are simply bored with religion.

How can I participate?

We plan to have a very flexible "structure" to allow people to freely participate (see 1Cor. 14:26).  If there is a specific way you'd like to be involved (playing in the impromptu worship band, helping to set up, other program suggestions), by all means let us know  You are also invited to bring food (snacks, dessert, appetizer or beverage) to share.

What does it cost?

Nothing.  (we'll probably have an offering basket to benefit the work of Perk Avenue Cafe in their ministry to the neighborhood.  Contributions are totally voluntary)
