the Balzat
Family Band!
August 26th, 2008
all house churches and
free-range believers invited to participate!
You are invited to join us for a very special gathering this Tuesday.
We will be blessed to have the Balzat Family visiting us from New
Zealand, and because there are 10 of them, and our living room is
overcrowded already, we will be holding this week's fellowship at
the Foundry,
6051 Maple Street.
The Balzat Family in concert!
The Balzat Family is comprised of Uwe Balzat, his wife, their SEVEN
children, plus a son-in-law, who play as a band of 10 using mainly
acoustic instruments – violins, cellos, guitars, flutes,
piano/keyboard, drums. They play a variety of instrumental pieces
that could be described as Irish-folk influenced, including some of
their own compositions. They are in the US for a short while, playing
a few gigs while here (notably the Old Time Country Music Festival
hosted by Bob Everhardt in LeMars IA)

POTLUCK DINNER!
This will be a potluck gathering, starting at 6:00PM. Bring
something to share if you can. The Foundry does not have much in the
way of kitchen facilities, so portable preparations (eg crock-pots)
are preferable. Drinks, snack foods, salads and desserts are also
welcome. We'll plan on food and fellowship for an hour or so,
probably with some group singing, followed by the Balzat family
concert.
Freewill Offering
I know the Balzats are doing some "paying" gigs while here in the US,
but I don't imagine they'll begin to cover the cost of bringing 10
people halfway around the world. There is no admission charge for
this gathering, but we would like to help them on their way by taking
up a collection for their expenses. Please come prepared to
contribute what you can afford, and as the Lord leads.
a Thank you to The Foundry
The folks at the Foundry have been very gracious and generous in
opening their facility for events like this - let's bless them by not
trashing their place. If a few of you could stick around afterwards
and help clean up that would be appreciated. And consider checking
out some of the Foundry's community and artistic events, and maybe
contribute to some of their charitable causes.
Sorry about the short notice, hope you can make it on Tuesday.
